In an effort to prepare young adolescents for life-long learning, we will provide the opportunity for education in a safe, nurturing environment.

Welcome to Our School!

Fort Scott Middle School serves all district students in grades six, seven, and eight. A teacher-advisor program helps students make the transition from elementary school. Each student is assigned a teacher as an advisor and works with that same teacher throughout the three years of middle school.

A core curriculum of reading, language arts, social studies, math and science is emphasized through a teaming approach. Physical education courses are required at each grade level. Life skill classes offered are:

  • clothing
  • foods
  • technology
  • study skills
  • computer basics.

Students may choose among four fine arts electives:

  • art
  • band
  • chorus
  • orchestra

Intramural opportunities include

  • football
  • volleyball
  • basketall
  • softball
  • gymnastics
  • wrestling
  • track
  • drama
  • puppeteering
  • tennis
  • Bowling

Over 75% of the student body participate in intramurals. Fort Scott Middle School helps each student become a winner.
