District buses provide daily transportation to and from schools for elementary and middle school students who live 0.6 of a mile or more from the schools they attend. Bus service is available for high school students who live outside the city limits.

Each school has a breakfast and hot lunch program which meet state and federal nutritional requirements. Students may also bring lunch from home and purchase milk at school. Fort Scott High School, also, provides an a la carte menu for its students. USD 234 participates in the Free and Reduced Breakfast/Lunch Program funded by the federal government.
