RE: USD 234 Interim Guidance for Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19)
Dear USD 234 Stakeholders,
The Kansas Department of Education (KSDE) has provided school districts with interim guidance based on what is currently known about the transmission and severity of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Currently, in the United States, the risk of COVID-19 for the general public is low. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will update state agencies as needed and as additional information becomes available will be shared with school districts.
USD 234 is working with the local county and state health departmentsf and emergency management officials to assist in implementing the necessary precautions to prevent the entry and spread of COVID-19 into our schools. We are taking care to minimize disruption of our school environment and to protect students and staff.
On our district website, USD 234 has provided one-page flyers created by the CDC to help you become informed about COVID-19. We encourage anyone who has more questions to contact the county health department or to obtain information from your personal health provider. You can find these flyers under “Documents” and then “For Parents” and then “COVID-19” on the district website.
USD 234 will continue to stay informed about COVID-19, and we will share information with our stakeholders as needed. USD 234 will continue to take guidance from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, Kansas Department of Education, and our local health officials to keep the safety of our students a priority.
Sincerely,
Ted Hessong
Superintendent
