We are only a couple weeks away from Spring Break and next school year will be here before you know it! We will be doing Kindergarten Round-Up next month on April 14th from 8am-3pm at Winfield Scott. If you have or know of a child turning five before September 1st, they will need to attend. Please bring your child's Social Security card, birth certificate, and immunization records/physical. This year will be a little bit different, so please see the attached flyer or call our school for more details. Thank you!

USD 234 will be in session tomorrow, Wednesday, February 10, 2021. All buildings will operate under their regular class schedules. Buses will run as close to their regular times as possible in the morning and afternoon. We ask families to make sure students are dressed in layers including a warm hat, boots, and gloves, especially those who need to ride the bus. Although we are starting at our regular time, students driving to school should use precaution, especially when entering and leaving the parking lots. If your child will not be in attendance tomorrow, you will need to contact your child’s building office to let them know your student will not be there.

As we continue National Kindness Week, Winfield Scott would like to recognize our principal, Mrs. McGhee, and thank her for her dedication to our staff and students. Mrs. McGhee works hard to model kindness at school and build skills that not only help our students learn, but contribute towards making them upstanding future citizens. Thank you, Mrs. McGhee, for making kindness an integral part of character building at Winfield Scott!

The Kansas City Chiefs are headed back to the Super Bowl to keep the Lombardi Trophy where it belongs! Winfield Scott will be hosting a Chiefs spirit week next week (Feb. 1-5). Don't fumble this opportunity to support them as they head to Tampa to get ready for the big game! #WinfieldScottFS #RunItBack

To start National Kindness Week, we would like to recognize Miss Amanda, Stacy, and Kelli (left to right) for their dedication to serving the students and staff at Winfield Scott, as well as parents and community members. They serve a critical role in our front office, and school operations would be impossible without them. They are always willing to go above and beyond their assigned roles and duties. Thank you, ladies! #WinfieldScottFS #NationalKindnessWeek

Mr. Greyson was nominated for the Tiger Award by Mrs. Nation for always following directions and doing the right thing in the cafeteria and library. He is a great role model for his fellow students and represents the character traits we love at Winfield Scott very well! #WinfieldScottFS #GreatLittleCitizens

Miss Kently sets a good example for her classmates and always encourages them to make good choices. Way to go, Kently! #learnerstodayleaderstomorrow

We are sad that we can't bring parents to PE this year due to covid. However, we know how much our students and families love PE. So this year we are asking our students to bring PE to their family. Check out the link below or Seesaw for more information. Feel free to tag us or post to our Facebook page any pictures or vides of your family joining in the fun! #FamiliesLovePE #WinfieldScottFS

Halloween party updates: students will arrive at school in costume. Masks must be worn with all costumes even under plastic masks. Students should have regular clothes under their costume or a change of clothes in their bag. PTO will be coordinating a prepackaged snack, drink, and goody bag for each student. If your child is asked to bring an item they will need to carry it into the school. No adults will be allowed to attend the parties. We plan to record the students in their costumes and share with classrooms to watch and post on Facebook for family and friends. Thanks for being understanding as we try our best to stay safe and have fun!

USD 234 is also looking for substitute cooks, along with paraprofessionals, substitute teachers, substitute paraprofessionals, and substitute bus drivers. You can apply online at https://usd234.tedk12.com/hire/index.aspx
If you have questions about these positions, please contact the board office at 620-223-0800.

We are so excited to see our students tomorrow! Here are a few reminders and helpful tips:
-7:30 is the time you may begin dropping off your student. No parents/guardians will be allowed into the building.
-masks must be worn by all students (we have extra if you don't have one yet)
-all students will get a water bottle tomorrow. The water fountains will not be in use this year, only the bottle fillers. Water bottles will be necessary each day.
-please send your student in tennis shoes every day
-if you have (or can make) a name tag for your student for the first day or two that will be helpful to staff.
We are working hard to make this year the best it can be. Thank you for your help and support! #WinfieldScottFS
