Hello, my name is Cory Standridge. I am the Manager at Elk City State Park located just outside of Independence Ks.
Our Friends of Elk City State Park Group is hosting an Outdoor Kansas Kids Day this Saturday May 4th from 10am-2pm. This is a "free entry to the park day". I would appreciate if you would distribute the attached flyer to the parents of the students at your schools.
We will be having a lot of free giveaways and are hoping to have even more than is listed in the flyer. There will be a helicopter landing from Eagle Med, the Fire Department will be doing bowling. Evergy may be doing bucket rides. The Health Department will be giving out helmets and lifejackets. There will be inflatables and even an archery/bb gun shooting range.
We hope that many of your students will be able to attend and enjoy the outdoors with us this weekend.
I would also like to let you know that we are now scheduling field trips for the schools to Elk City State Park for the end of the school year or the beginning of next. If you are interested in that please let me know.
If you have any questions feel free to email me back or call my cell listed below.
Thank you.

Due to weather and the fact that we are under a tornado watch until 9pm, we want to make the safe choice and postpone the event. We don't have a for sure backup date yet but we will keep everyone posted.

Mrs. Korinke's class has been working hard and having a lot of fun. After learning about chickens and their life cycle, they got to go to a local chicken farm and see and hear about them in person.
Mrs. Korinke's class is also finishing up the Read-A-Thon and got to show their reading skills to the 1st grade pet gecko, S'mores.

Winfield Scott Leadership Club provided cosmic brownies, moon pies, sun chips, Milky Way, etc. to all staff members to celebrate the solar eclipse!
